Evan Rachel Wood on playing good and bad in ‘Ides of March’ & ‘Mildred Pierce’

As the star of both “The Ides of March” and “Mildred Pierce,” Evan Rachel Wood could find herself a double nominee at both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Though she’s part of one of the most buzz-worthy ensembles of the year in “The Ides of March” — with Ryan Gosling and Philip Seymour Hoffman potentially nabbing acting nods — Evan is a clear standout. Her stirring, central role as Molly Stearns in “The Ides of March” puts her very much in the Best Supporting Actress race.

Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times praises her chemistry with Gosling and role as “an intern on the campaign who is young enough to think she’s sophisticated when really she is not. Played with energy and panache by Wood, who seems to improve from role to role, Stearns doesn’t hesitate to set her cap for the press spokesman, and the flirtation between these two is nicely credible.”

She is also hot off an Emmy nomination for her role as the vindictive Veda, daughter to Kate Winslet’s “Mildred Pierce.” While she must compete against co-star Winslet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, few rivals threaten her in the Golden Globes catch-all category for TV supporting actresses. Gold Derby gives her 1-to-10 odds to win, tying her for first place with Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story”) and Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey”).

LACMA’s Art + Film Gala

Another day, another event for Evan to attend! Last night, she looked amazing at the LACMA’s Art + Film Gala, channelling her inner-1920′s flapper girl with a Gucci dress and sandals, and Neil Lane jewelry. Also you may have noticed this week that Evan’s Twitter account has finally been verified! You can now tweet her @evanrachelwood – enjoy!

LA Times Young Hollywood Roundtable

On November 03, Evan was at the AFI Fest to attend the LA Times Young Hollywood Roundtable, alongside Kirsten Dunst, Armie Hammer, and Anton Yelchin. Over 100 images have been added to the gallery, as well as scans from Evan’s cover from the November edition of Elle. Enjoy!

Gallery Additions

Hello everyone! I’ve got a rather mixed bag of images that I’ve added to the gallery today, ranging the entire length of Evan’s career! To start with I’ve got some stills from Digging to China, The Ides of March and Evan’s 2009 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, pictures from the press conferences from The Missing and The Ides of March, an Ides group portrait session and finally a lovely additional picture from this shoot. Enjoy!

“The Ides of March” BFI Premiere

Evan is currently in the UK (yay!) at the BFI/London Film Festival, where she attended the photocall and premiere for The Ides of March. She looked amazing at both events, but I especially loved her 60s look from the press conference! Over 150 pictures have been added to both gallery events so far, with more on the way – enjoy!
